So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” – Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)
Throughout the Scriptures, it has been observed that God empowers and equips His people for their calling. To fulfill the assignment of the Great Commission, God has given to us the Holy Spirit, our Paraclete (Acts 1:8). This confirms to us that the Holy Spirit’s enabling power and proficiency are absolutely necessary since man is limited in his ability and capacity.
John 16:8-13 reminds us that it is the Holy Spirit Who convicts men of sin and not our eloquent and persuasive words, while in 2 Corinthians 2:9, we are reminded that we should not boast when we are saved. Additionally, it is the third Person of the Trinity Who guides God’s instruments where to go and to whom (Acts 9:15). It is the Holy Spirit Who gives hope to the hopeless (Romans 15:13).
Being equipped with the Holy Spirit is definitely an advantage to every believer. Therefore, let us embrace His help as we take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and perishing world.
